Do you know the feeling when you planned to do just some little changes and few days later you realize you might have gone a bit overkill with your setup? I do now. No new hardware here at What's up, home dungeon, but my Linux laptop has now a bit different setup and I'm probably not even done yet. What I'm doing is that I'm exploring the treasures and gems brought us to by the fantastic world of open-source. Thank you, everybody who makes this possible!

Zusammen mit drei spannenden Gästen besprechen wir neben einigen Grundlagen vor allem persönliche Anekdoten aus unseren Projekten, der Entwicklung und der Community.
15 Jahre Foreman
Wenn es um das einfache Bereitstellen neuer Hosts im Rechenzentrum geht, ist oft von Foreman die Rede. Ergänzt um das Katello-Plugin ergibt sich so eine leistungsfähige Software, die vollumfängliches Lifecycle- und Patch-Management erlaubt. Die Enterprise-Kundschaft kennt diese Kombination auch als Red Hat Satellite. Diesen Monat wird das Foreman-Projekt stolze 15 Jahre alt - ein guter Grund zu feiern! Zusammen mit Evgeni Golov, Bernhard Suttner und Dirk Götz besprechen wir neben einigen Grundlagen vor allem persönliche Anekdoten aus unseren Projekten. Evgeni teilt seine Erfahrungen aus der Entwicklung, während Bernhard uns einen Einblick in die Entwicklung von Orcharhino gibt, der ebenfalls auf Foreman basiert. Dirk teilt Eindrücke aus Schulungen und der großen Foreman-Community.

Katello предоставляет возможность использовать абстракцию Lifecycle Environment: назначать целевым хостам доступность определенных состояний репозиториев (фиксированные версии пакетов или теги контейнеров).
