Last day in #Helsinki - since our feet are tired we are taking an easy sightseeing option. Now taking tram 4 all the way to #Munkkiniemi and then back to #Katajanokka.
Last night a farewell drink with friends in the still nicely nostalgic #UKaleva bar. The original owner, a German called Dieter, sold the place 2 years ago, but the new owners kept the concept and the charm.
I've been to #Helsinki many times before & it's one of my favourite cities. My last visit was in 2019 & since then the city has changed a lot - from trams riding different routes to lots of new housing developments. Many of the new places look like examples for #gentrification, temporary apartments with chain stores & restaurants below. Staying in the #YouthHostel on #Katajanokka feels almost like a subversive act in the face of the commercialisation of tourism here.

Tänään kierrettiin Katajanokka, ihana paikka, aina löytyy ihasteltavaa. Hyvin jaksoin kävellä, mutta palatessa alkoi toinen olkapää tuntua kipeältä. Jouduin kävelemään kädet selän takana, kuin mikäkin.
Kävely on aina sujunut hyvin, olen aina tykännyt kävellä. Mutta ikä tekee kai tehtävänsä, vähänkin pitempi lenkki, niin johan joku muu kohta rupeaa vihottelemaan. Ihan tyhjästä.
Kai se on lisättävä voimistelua ja venyttelyä. #helsinki #katajanokka #kävely
