I love how Danes celebrate with cake (in this case, celebrating EU DSA Transparency Report completion, because we are nerds). I *especially* like the tradition of screaming when you cut the throat of the cake man (kagemand). Our screams were lame because there were only 4 or so of us, but I still love the tradition. For a sweet people, Danes are DARK. #kagemand #kage #kaffeogkage #cake #cakeman #coffeeandcake

Let’s talk about Danish birthday cakes. A traditional cake is the ‘kagemand’ (cake man) or ‘kagekone’ (cake wife) - - these are available with added gummies and marsipan or without, and can be purchased in multiple bases like coffee cake, cinnamon, or chocolate.

Another fun tradition: when Danes bring in the kagemand everyone sings a birthday song and then you cut the cake. Tradition is to cut the kagemand’s throat first, and all present scream.

@GhostMaker I was wrong. It is a birthday tradition not a Yule tradition.

The #Kagemand is a "...Danish cake in the shape of a boy or a girl, which is traditionally eaten at birthdays and anniversaries... Traditionally, the birthday party starts with the cake figure being decapitated or dismembered, while all the children scream"
