Happy #JuneSolstice to all who celebrate ☀️
It's now officially summer where I live and while the #SummerSolstice itself is not celebrated any more, there are St. John's fires on St. John Eve and 7 different herbs are hung up to protect the home in some households.
St. John's Day celebrates the birthday of John the Baptist on 24 June. In ancient Athens, the new year was celebrated on the first new moon after the solstice, the first day of the month Hekatombion.

I mark the passage of the year, as the planet measures it. Having to make an effort to renew contact with nature is the deepest tragedy of our time.

Today marks the Summer Solstice, the longest period of daylight of the year in the Northern Hemisphere. But not to be outdone, it's also the Winter Solstice, the longest period of darkness of the year, in the Southern Hemisphere. Science is cool. #JuneSolstice
The #JuneSolstice will occur at 0241Z tomorrow morning. It's already been feeling like #summer here for several weeks.

Happy #JuneSolstice! Have a great weekend! 🙂
