Mostre, performance e workshop fino al 31 ottobre: arte e comunità al centro del fuori salone 2026
Ha preso ufficialmente il via a Gibellina “Seeds Blooming Art”, il fuori salone di Gibellina 2026 che, da oggi fino al 31 ottobre, animerà il comune trapanese, nominato Capitale italiana dell’arte contemporanea.
Il ricco programma – ideato e curato da Massimo Mirabella – è stato presentato nella sala Agorà del Palazzo di Città alla presenza, tra gli altri, del direttore del Parco archeologico di Segesta Luigi Biondo, della direttrice della scuola palermitana La Coreutica Silvia Raffa, del sindaco Salvatore Sutera e del responsabile territoriale Sicilia di BPER Banca Corrado Suma.
Ad aprire il calendario è stata l’inaugurazione, nel temporary showroom di largo Joseph Beuys, della mostra “BPER Art, una scultura alla cinquina del Premio Strega”, che espone otto sculture realizzate per i finalisti del celebre riconoscimento letterario. L’esposizione, a ingresso gratuito, sarà visitabile fino al 22 aprile.

“Seeds Blooming Art,” the Fuori Salone of Gibellina 2026, has officially opened in Gibellina, which, from today until October 31, will animate the Trapani municipality, named Italian Capital of Contemporary Art.

The rich program – designed and curated by Massimo Mirabella – was presented in the Agorà Hall of Palazzo di Città in the presence of, among others, the director of the Segesta Archaeological Park, Luigi Biondo, the director of the La Coreutica school in Palermo, Silvia Raffa, Mayor Salvatore Sutera, and BPER Banca’s Sicilia territorial manager, Corrado Suma.

The calendar opened with the inauguration, in the temporary showroom on largo Joseph Beuys, of the exhibition “BPER Art, a sculpture to the Strega Prize quintet,” which displays eight sculptures created for the finalists of the renowned literary prize. The exhibition, with free admission, will be visitable until April 22.

Welcome to th 5th #ShelterChallenge wednesday update:

Today I write about inspiration for my planned public "Shelter Art Construction Site" and about a 3D shelter model I created.

"Shelter BiePal v001": A sustainable and cheep shelter plan...

The 3D model is based on the geometry of wooden beams (trash of a company) I collect in Bielefeld and with 4 Epal palettes as groundplane to sleep on. Laths of dissassembled oneway palettes can be used for the roof and the sides. For a water resistant rooftop many options are thinkable, e.g. old lorry tarps, gifted old solar panels, or bought foil for plantroofs with soil on it (I don't want to use tarred felt). My modell is a bit smaller than the danish 7.1 model (see update 4). Inspirations for Building as Art and Community Artworks...

I want to build shelters in public space. To experience the feeling while building with ones own hands is an important part of the artwork. There are examples for it:

The italian designer and university lecturer Enzo Mari first published his manifest-like collection of furniture plans with the title „Autoprogettazione?“ in 1974. He wanted to make people feel the process of making art while building their own furniture. [ https://corraini.com/en/autoprogettazione.html ]

A big inspiration is the german artist Joseph Beuys and his concept of the "social sculpture". In 1982 he started his project "7000 oaks - city forest not city administration" at Documenta 7 in Kassel (The city still uses it on their website for city marketing). Many citizens helped planting "Beuys trees". It also inspired other cities like Bielefeld to also plant their own "Beuys" trees. In 2011 the artist and university lecturer Judith Seng invited the audience to enter the theater stage in Berlin and be part of „Acting Things I / Production Theatre“. Heute geht es um Inspirationen für meine geplante, öffentliche Shelter-Kunst-Baustelle und um ein von mir dafür entwickeltes 3D-Shelter-Modell.

"Shelter BiePal v001": Ein nachhaltiger und günstiger Shelter-Bauplan...

Das 3D-Modell basiert auf den Maßen von in Bielefeld als Abfall verfügbarem Konstruktionsholz und vier ausgemusterten Europaletten als Grundliegefläche. Für die Verbretterung kann Holz von zerlegten Einwegpaletten verwendet werden. Als wasserfestes Dach sind alte LKW-Plane, geschenkte Solarmodule oder gekaufte Gründachfolie mit Erdschicht denkbar (Teerpappe möchte ich eigentlich nicht einsetzen). Es ist etwas kleiner als der kleine Shelter 7.1 in Dänemark (siehe Update Nummer 4). Inspirationen für künstlerisches Bauen und Gemeinschaftskunstwerke...

Ich möchte an einem öffentlichen Ort mit Menschen Shelter bauen, wobei die persönliche Erfahrung des Bauens mit Holz, mit den eigenen Händen, wichtiger Bestandteil des Kunstwerkes ist. Dafür gibt es konkrete Beispiele:

Der italienische Designer und Hochschuldozent Enzo Mari vermittelte mit seiner manifest-artigen Bauanleitungssammlung „Autoprogettazione?“ ab 1974 Möbel-Selbstbau als künstlerische Erfahrung. [ https://corraini.com/en/autoprogettazione.html ]

Ein großes Vorbild ist auch Joseph Beuys und sein Konzept der „sozialen Plastik“. Exemplarisch steht dafür sein Projekt „7000 Eichen – Stadtverwaldung statt Stadtverwaltung“ (mit dem die Stadt Kassel noch heute wirbt) und wo ab der Documenta 7 im Jahr 1982 viele Bürger*innen teil des Gesamtkunstwerkes wurden, da sie mithalfen die Beuys-Bäume an vielen Orten einzupflanzen, oder sogar Städte wie Bielefeld inspirierte, selber sogenannte Beuys-Bäume zu pflanzen. Daniel Russart har lavet denne fine video om Joseph Beuys' 7000 egetræer. Projektet blev lanceret ved documenta 7 i 1982 i Kassel og er et visionært og skelsættende værk inden for social skulptur og miljøkunst.

Projektet involverede plantning af 7000 egetræer, hver ledsaget af en basaltsten. Stenen repræsenterer det uforanderlige, mens træet repræsenterer den levende, foranderlige natur.
