Supposedly a rehearsal tape recorded in August 1976 by Nick Garvey (or so says Read & Burn).

Bermuda Strollers 73 (Edmar ELPS-1122, 1973).
In Jonathan Richman’s “Monologue About Bermuda” he says the Modern Lovers’ trip to the island signaled the end of the band because he was getting more excited by what the local guys like these guys were doing. Features “Bang Bang Lulu.”

🎵 Egyptian Reggae
#ThePastels were/are a quietly revolutionary band from Glasgow. The were DIY in many respects and paved the way for #BelleAndSebastian, #Mogwai and #FranzFerdinand. I loved the "anorak" scene, which was basically dressing down in the 80s when everyone else was dressing up. Their songwriting was a bit #JonathanRichman, a bit deliberately fragile but they still knew how to rock. The opening track on their debut LP "Ride" is massive and still sounds great.
Jonathan Richman & The Modern Lovers, Modern Lovers ’88, 1987 on Rounder
Although the Modern Lovers formed in Natick MA, this incarnation formed in California and recorded this album in Grass Valley CA. This became the final album for Richman with the Modern Lovers, as a trio, with Brennan Totten and Johnny Avila.
My copy—via Electric Fetus in Minneapolis MN—is the Craft Recordings’ 2022 Record Store Day 35th Anniversary Edition on blue vinyl. This reissue itself charted (a first for a Modern Lovers release) at 77 on the US album charts.
