Dave NanianJohn Scofield Quartet - Meant to Be
Since I just saw Scofield a few nights ago, I thought it would be appropriate to listen to this recent rerelease of a 1991 session.
This was Bill Stewart's (drums) first appearance with Scofield, and they've been working together ever since.
Joe Lovano (tenor) is there, too, and Marc Johnson (bass).

Scofield and Holland have played together quite a few times, and they've done some tours, but they've never recorded as a duo.
Well, that's been rectified on this ECM release, featuring a set of originals from each of them, along with one Cole Porter song.
A lot of tone and texture is wrung out of a "simple" guitar/bass duo, as you'd expect with two masters of the form...
