Photographed by Jimmy Nelson, a young unnamed member of the Tufi tribe in the Oro province of Papua New Guinea is adorned with the traditional dress, feathers & beads of her people. The Tufi are known for their facial tattoos but nowadays many members of the tribe live more Western lives; in an effort to keep their traditions alive, women with facial tattoos are rewarded with the right to choose their own husbands.

Bezoek aan de #JimmyNelson voorstelling in Fabrique des Lumieres laat de soort mens in al zijn kleurrijke verscheidenheid zien. Bij mij kwam wel de wat sombere parallel met soortenrijkdom op. De kleurrijke specialisten verliezen meer en meer terrein aan de grijze generalisten. #foodforthought #mensinclusievewereld
