When Hong Qigong transmitted the Eighteen Palms of Dragon-subduing to Guo Jing, something profound occurred—far more than simple instruction.

Our new article explores why "transmission" (传授 chuánshòu) captures the sacred act of passing martial traditions from master to disciple in ways that "teach" never could.

My work is chock full of nonhuman peoples are nonhuman peoples are WEIRD.

#Shroompunk kiths are based on He-Man/She-Ra/Mario characters.

#CosmicRangers aliens are trad fantasy races with #CosmicFantasy / #SpaceOpera glow-ups.

The #jianghu of #SDTJ2197 is chockfull of faerie/yokai/yaoguai and Carter/Burroughs/Lovecraft weird fantasy gribblies. They're all 'extra-dimensionals', or 'edies', and they're the reason that decent people stay out of Squidtown.

If you're planning a sequel, can you tell us about it?

Sure. Rainbow Bridge is an #UrbanWuxia novel about 5 kids (15-24) from the SDTJ megaplex who #isekai themselves and have to find their way back Home while tangling with the military intelligence agencies of Texas and California.

Second book follows their adventures in the SDTJ #jianghu as they fail to settle back into civil society-- and absent friends return from the Worlds where they were left behind.

A friend is flying back from overseas and bringing me back some Chinese #books so I am excited to get more book mail soon. Among the books are a book about #jianghu as utopia for my #wuxia fiction research and two books by a contemporary poet that I am translating
How China’s Favorite Fantasy Realm Faded Into the Background

From “Water Margin” to “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon,” it was the setting of some of China’s best-loved works of fiction and fantasy. But does anyone still care about the “jianghu”?
