Engine is basically installed. Just need oil, coolant and a battery.

New lifters are installed. Also figured out how the alternator and ac brackets work. Also, no idea where the ac bolts ended up…

Well... after assembling this other engine (after learning the TJ short block wont work well in my XJ), on a hunch, I checked the pushrod length - it seemed like there was excessive preload on the hydraulic lifters. Turns out, they were 0.200" too long.
I figure this difference is from the aftermarket (Hesco) head, and roller rockers. Either way, the correct rods are in the mail.

Engine 1 apparently came from a TJ and won’t work with my Cherokee accessories or motor mounts. So… I’ve torn down the Cherokee’s factory motor (engine 2 if you’re counting) and am getting it cleaned up so i can build it out instead. 🙄
