Paul Turnbull 🇨🇦I've been going to Jasper since I was a kid and it's among my favourite places in the world. This was our last winter trip of the season but we'll be back in late July to camp and hike some the burned out areas.
If you ever wanted to know what happens when a wildfire creates its own fire tornado here you go. The detour to get up Marmot Basin goes through some of the worst hit areas from the Jasper Wildfire. Typically after a fire timber is burned but mostly still standing, and this is the case in most of the valley, but there's a few kms where the trees are snapped off or uprooted and scattered in all directions.

I took this shot in the high alpine meadows just south of #Jasper #Alberta, in a park that few actually visit in this mountain region. My sibling had suggested we go backpacking through this area on a weekend trip we had the opportunity to enjoy together.
This scene was without a doubt, the highlight of our hike as summited the ridge to see this sweeping valley.
