🪷 On January 9th we celebrate the #Agonalia feast of #Janus, the double-faced god who gives his name to the month. Janus is a guardian of all entrances as he can see both outwards to ward off intruders, and also see inwards to guard the occupants. This also means that he is a deity of the threshold. Borders are magical places. So, if you are worried about a change that is happening in your life, Janus is a deity to have a word with. Any doorway or entrance is his place, so speak to him there. 🪷

Several years ago, I added the Gregorian New Year to my seasonal ritual calendar. Before that, I had always celebrated Samhain as the “witches new year” because it’s the end of the growing season. But then I became acquainted with the two-headed Roman god of doorways, Janus.
As a small devotional today, I’ve written a blog about Janus and his associations with New Year’s and witchcraft.
