This was a test on scrap paper, will try a bigger one on proper paper at some point.

(It's tiny! The last image with some pens and a ruler for scale, the patterned bit is 9cm at the widest point)

Started a new construction last night.

'This can't possibly be as difficult as the previous one,' I thought smugly.

'This one's much simpler! It's just some rosettes and decagons!' I continued, confidently.

Guess how it's been going.

The first painting I finished in about two years. My other projects and journeys left painting in the back seat for some time but not being able to indulge in those I am forced back to the drawing table. This condition draws the unrelenting urge to create to the foreground.

More Islamic geometry / fretsaw work. A design from the period of the Mamluks of Cairo. This is 3mm oak I upcycled from an old cabinet door and shoved through my thicknesser. The amount of oaken furniture that is disposed of is staggering. The Ikea lifestyle is terrifying.
