Since accepting the thesis that Manannán is the Fire, rather than Sea, god, Irish mythology featuring him makes much more sense.
It handily explains why he is so often associated with Goibniú/Culann (same guy btw) and why virtually all of his myths occur on land or on an island in the otherworld, rather than at sea or underwater.
He is also a beloved and benevolent trickster god, which befits a god of friendly hearth, forge, or ceremonial fire.
I'm sure Manannán, who loves disguises and tricks, doesn't really mind if we mixed him up for a few centuries before figuring this out
