She sailed from Ireland on a coffin ship with her parents, taking a chance on a better life. Sadly, her parents didn't survive the journey.

As of today, I have spent 59 years on this rock.

I was almost born AT the St Patrick's Day parade in Chicago in 1967.

My then very pregnant mother was trying to waddle across Wacker Blvd in order to catch a cab to get to the hospital, when a couple of police officers noticed her. As the parade kicked off, the officers fanned out, held up their hands, and held up the parade so my mom could safely cross.

Happy St. Pat's Day, all!
