Here's a fun 2026 folklore coincidence😋

Did you know that horses often play a key role in various mythologies, and 2026 is the Year Of The Horse according to the Chinese zodiac calendar?🐎🐴🏇

Well, just so it happens, two of my books feature mythological horses - the winged Pegasus from Ancient Greek legends and the ominous Púca from Irish folklore.

So, if you haven't read these books yet, this might be the universe telling you to do it this year😅

🏺Secret Shadows🏺 is a spicy retelling of the myth about Hades and Persephone. It's the first book in a series of standalone romantasy novels.

🐺Third To Tumble🐺 is a steamy and suspenseful werewof tale. It's the third book in a series of paranormal romance standalones.

Oh, and both are available in KU😊

I'm using comparative methods to reveal the true identities of the Celtic-Christian Saints. I've discovered that nearly all of them are simply Celtic gods re-branded. It's new ground, there's a lot to learn and apply elsewhere.

The Gods and their Croziers

The Gods of the Celtic pantheons have long resisted accurate identification alongside their famous counterparts in the Norse, Mediterranean, and Indo-Iranian religions. What remains might be only the garbled re-imaginings of bored Christian monks, stripped of authenticity. But what if it’s not as dismal as we thought? What if we can validate that the Irish God and Hero stories are preserved in remarkably faithful detail? And, what if there are many, many more of them hidden in plain sight, awaiting recovery? Using a framework inspired by Dumézil’s methods of comparative mythology, a slew of newly re-identified Irish and Welsh gods are already awaiting wider appreciation. It's a rich time to enjoy Celtic mythology. Inspired by this work, I’m applying the same methods to the Hagiographies of the Celtic Saints, and what I’ve found is amazing - nearly every significant Early Irish Saint is unambiguously a God of the Native Irish Pantheon, and the same seems to be true of other Celtic branches. By finding their parallel stories in native and other mythologies, we can restore them to their original identities, and better-understand the faithfully kept material we already enjoy. I’m compiling this work for a book, or perhaps a series of books. But, I want to share the work as early as I can! Join me as I explore the Comparative Mythology of the Celtic Saints, uncovering the Gods and their Croziers.

Scientists Have Uncovered Evidence Of #Ireland's Largest #Prehistoric #Hillfort Settlement

“In a recent study [(link above), the authors] identified more than 600 suspected house platforms in the Brusselstown Ring hillfort [Ireland], making it the largest nucleated settlement ever discovered in the entirety of prehistoric Britain and Ireland thus far. Subsequent test excavations revealed evidence of Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age occupation as well as a potential water cistern, which may be the very first of its kind in an Irish hillfort…”

OK, onwards.

So, the other two major ingredients here are the Moon-Immortality god, who I've previously shared here is "Midir", but also known as "Saint Brendan"; and also Aengus, the "Young Son" god who's also known as Saint Moling. But both deities have cognates everywhere! Not only in Ireland.

Interestingly, noted proto-Jesus god 'Dionysus' might contain both already.

I'm looking for your thoughts.

I am trying to write an #IrishMythology book laying out the identifications of the #CelticPagan Gods that were just rewritten as saints. But there are a lot of them, and I don't know how to write a concise book that lays out the whole pattern. It's hard to show just the individual parts!

I'm wondering if an 'accessory' project could help me deal with the detail and groundwork, and with slimming the book.

I have no publishing deal yet. Should I do:

OMGs! I just made a salmon dish involving GF panko breadcrumbs and hazelnuts! The salmon was fresh at the fish market, and I served it up with roasted potatoes and rosemary (both from our garden), and carrots from a local farmer. Salmon and hazelnuts tie into #IrishMythology and #FinnMcCuhal / #FinnMcCool -- the salmon eats the hazelnuts of wisdom, and Finn eats the salmon!

Anyhow, the website is aptly named -- it was completely delicious!

Hazelnut-Crusted Salmon

Light and tender roasted salmon with a crunchy hazelnut crust makes a great weeknight meal. I have been in such a dinner rut lately. You mean I have to make dinner tonight, again?  Every monday

Completely Delicious
