The Israeli #military said it killed an Iranian naval commander who played a pivotal role in blocking the #StraitOfHormuz.

#Israel said Thursday it killed Commodore #AlirezaTangsiri, the head of the #IRGC navy.

Israel’s Defense Minister Israel Katz said Tangsiri had been killed along with other senior naval commanders in a strike overnight.

Katz said Tangsiri was responsible for bombing operations that have blocked ships from crossing the Strait of Hormuz.

#Iran or #IRGC or anybody inside Iran should not be delusional on claiming sovereignty over Strait of #Hormuz. #Iran cannot be allowed to levy a protection-racket-levy on ANY shipping flowing through strait of #Hormuz.

#Houthis lost global support and sympathy in their fight against #Saudi due to their impeding shipping via Red Sea, #Iran will face something similar.

Significant global opinion will turn hostile to #Iran if this happens.

Iran Rejects Ceasefire and Sets Conditions

No shocker. Tehran rejected Trump’s ceasefire and 15-point plan. Excerpt from Iranian state media report, link, and five conditions in the post.

Statement

“‘Iran will end the war when it decides to do so and when its own conditions are met’… Iran has communicated to all intermediaries acting in good faith that a ceasefire is contingent upon the acceptance of all of its conditions. ‘No negotiations will be held prior to that. The end of the war will occur when Iran decides it should end, not when Trump envisions its conclusion’…” (PressTV, 25 March 2026, 1:59 p.m., UK time; emphasis added).

1. A complete halt to ‘aggression and assassinations’ by the enemy.

2. The establishment of concrete mechanisms to ensure that the war is not reimposed on the Islamic Republic.

3. Guaranteed and clearly defined payment of war damages and reparations.

4. The conclusion of the war across all fronts and for all resistance groups [Hizballah, Iraqi Resistance, Yemen’s Ansarallah] involved throughout the region

5. Iran’s exercise of sovereignty over the Strait of Hormuz is and will remain Iran’s natural and legal right, and it constitutes a guarantee for the implementation of the other party’s commitments, and must be recognized.

Assessment

Iran’s conditions are tougher than outlined in preceding days by Iranian leaders. See “Iran War Assessment: No Negotiations.” They seem confident, which does not surprise me given Iran’s military achievements.

Paragraph 4 will undoubtedly cause Israel to squeal: recognition of Hizballah—and effectively, cessation of hostilities against southern Lebanon and termination of Israel’s goal of extending its northern border (i.e., taking Lebanese soil). Lifting of sanctions is not mentioned but this logically flows from other settlement conditions. Lastly, closure of US bases in Mideast is not mentioned; but de facto, those bases are going/gone.

Qatar announced that it will not join any hostilities against Iran, and re-opened government offices. It is trying to return to “business as usual.” Iran has ceased strikes against US/UK assets in Qatar (but nothing of military value survives). It remains to be seen if Doha formally blocks US from re-opening bases on Qatari soil.

The IRGC announced that they dropped an Israeli drone, earlier today, over Khuzestan Province.
