same filmmaker as "keep the lights on" (2012) which i watched over this last weekend which also had some pretty intense sex scenes.
first off, having a partner tell you that they want/need to start fucking other people is goddamn rough, particularly when it comes out of nowhere. secondly, watching the main character tomas running around trying to "have their cake and eat it too" is painful to watch because all of the relationships seem to be disposable as soon as they become somewhat difficult. that being said, yes, the gay sex was super hot but the story itself made me uncomfortable enough not to enjoy it.
also, adèle exarchopoulos is the woman in this triangle and i honestly thought she left the industry after being in blue is the warmest color (2013), which is basically a drama with massive amounts of scissoring (if you havent seen it....i mean, who hasnt??)...but what do i know? i havent watched a lot of movies in the last decade.

Cuando los personajes funcionan a trompicones, o son esquivos, incluso un argumento potente puede resbalar en la mente del público.
En tanto se estrena a nivel general la prometedora Peter Hujar's Day, tenemos para ver la anterior película de Ira Sachs, donde vuelve a encabezar el reparto un actor tan solvente como Ben Whishaw.
Passages pretende ser una obra arrebatada, incluso un estudio de las pasiones, y no alcanza, con esos desnudos tímidos no llega. Apuesto a que no era esta la idea que tenían el director y su coguionista al escribirla y que nos trasmiten desde el argumento.
La pasión no puede ser un striptease.
Que una persona adulta descubra que su orientación sexual es distinta a la que ha vivido es lógico y natural. Que se lance a experimentar lo que siente, por desgracia, no tanto. La bisexualidad escapa a toda norma, como la asexualidad, por ser difícil de domeñar, por lo flexible.
Tom es un artista porque no podría ser otra cosa. Como tampoco podría no ser urbanita y bohemio, o despreocupado. Pero es un personaje repelente y egoísta que se quiere a sí mismo por encima de a sus seres queridos. Estos personajes son complicados de manejar porque absorben las tramas y pueden hacer desconectar a la audiencia. Franz Rogowski está tan soberbio que Tom no deja indiferente a nadie, lo que es un cuchillo con doble filo. ¿Cómo conectas?
Ira confía el largo a Tom sin pretenderlo. Tom no cuenta con nadie, es un niño grande que utiliza a la gente para nunca estar solo. Tom se queda la película pero por sí mismo no es suficiente, y ni se plantea el poliamor.
