I like the idea of global anycast NAT64 gateways.

Maybe we shouldn't invent another prefix for it.

Global Anycast NAT64 Well-Known Prefix

This document defines a globally routable, anycast NAT64 service using the IPv6 prefix 2600:6464::/96 as a standardized translation substrate for IPv6-to-IPv4 connectivity. The goal of this specification is to eliminate per-network NAT64 configuration complexity by introducing a single globally consistent NAT64 translation prefix operated as a distributed anycast service by participating Internet Service Providers, cloud providers, and content delivery networks. The model assumes an IPv6-only client environment with mandatory IPv4 reachability via NAT64 translation. IPv4-only services remain reachable without modification. IPv4 is not modified. IPv6 is not modified. Only translation placement and routing semantics are standardized. This document defines: * A globally shared NAT64 prefix (2600:6464::/96) * Anycast-based NAT64 edge behavior * Stateless IPv6-to-IPv4 synthesis rules * Optional reverse mapping constraints (IPv4->IPv6 blocked) * Operational requirements for participating networks

AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery now supports IPv6
Posted on: Apr 13, 2026

AWS Elastic Disaster Recovery (AWS DRS) now supports IPv6 for both data replication and control plane connections. Customers operating in IPv6-only or dual-stack network environments can now configure AWS DRS to replicate using IPv6, eliminating the need for IPv4 addresses in their disaster recovery setup.

This is debian.

I still have some problems with fritz and openwrt to eliminate IPv4 in mDNS.

Planning for Internet Protocol Version 6

IBM Spectrum Control supports Internet Protocol Version 6 (IPv6) for communication between its components. The key IPv6 enhancement is the expansion of IP address spaces from 32 bits (up to 15 characters in length) to 128 bits (up to 45 characters in length).

SA is expected to reach the 95% mark in 2028 and JP in 2035. #IPv6 #IPv6only

I think that #IPv6 is headed for a tipping point. If we extrapolate the numbers from the company based in Mountain View,
• IPv6 rollout in France will hit the 95% mark this year
• IPv6 rollout in Germany and India will hit the 95% mark in 2028.

What does this mean?

I think we will see a rise in #ipv6only deployments soon. IPv6-only is becoming the new normal. #IPv6

@kasperd

DAD works, but nothing more.

Or in other words: At the moment it is not possible to use more than one Windows-PC with IPv6-mostly-support (Preview only ) in a IPv6-mostly or IPv6-only Network.

By accident a host may use one of the other mapped IPv4 addresses (out of 192.0.0.0/29) . But in general it takes the first one anywhere.

and W.B. is right: MS has to fix that problem before it gets released for the masses
