🌱 How can intercropping support more resilient and sustainable agri-food systems? IntercropVALUES Horizon Project launched a webinar series exploring #intercropping from field practices to food systems, sharing concrete insights from research and practice to support more sustainable, diversified farming and food systems in Europe and Southern Countries. The first two webinars were held in February, but a last one will take place next Monday and is online and open to anyone, including farmers, researchers, practitioners and policymakers. 👉 From field to food: Processing intercropped cereals and legumes. 🗓️ 2 March 2026 🕑 2:00 PM CET 🔗 Info & registration: https://ow.ly/8gwG50Y5qnu

Boost your garden’s productivity with intercropping! 🌱 Plant fast-growers like radishes or lettuce between slow-growers like broccoli or onions. You’ll harvest early crops while the bigger veggies take their time, making the most of your space and increasing yields. #GardeningTips #Intercropping

If you are looking for interesting PhD positions around #agroecology, #intercropping and #robotics in the Netherlands or Denmark, have a look at this very interesting project:

¡Diversidad en el tiempo y el espacio! Esa es una pieza fundamental del rompecabezas de la agroecología. Aquí, debajo de la yuca, la lechuga puede disfrutar de algunas semanas de luz solar directa y el agricultor obtiene una cosecha adicional de la misma parcela de tierra, ¡y no tiene que desmalezar tanto!

Diversity in time and space! That is a fundamental piece of the agroecology puzzle. Here, underneath the cassava (yuca), lettuce can enjoy some weeks of direct sunlight and the farmer gets an extra harvest from the same plot of land, and they don’t have to weed as much!

Intercropping means better harvests! 🥬 🌱

Planting kohlrabi and lettuce together maximizes space. Fast-growing lettuce provides quick ground cover, suppressing weeds, while slower kohlrabi matures. This diversity boosts soil health and reduces pest pressure. #Intercropping #Sustainable #Gardening

#RegenerativeAgriculture Goes Mainstream

by Jan Lee Jul 10th 2025

"The world’s hottest year on record may also mark the beginning of the end for carbon-intensive, conventional farming. Several factors have converged to bring regenerative practices into the mainstream, while a new study demonstrates that farmers can produce just as much food while improving land productivity by transitioning away from conventional practices.

"#RegenerativeFarming first hit headlines as part of '#LivingSystemsThinking' in the 1960s, later gaining interest among health-conscious foodies when the concept was popularized by food author #MichaelPollan. Today, techniques such as #CoverCropping and integrated pest management are being embraced not only by #environmental activists but also by multinational food companies. The difference is that now, this approach is celebrated for its practical effectiveness in maintaining a consistent food supply in an era of #ClimateChange-driven supply shocks."
