Here is a question for all you developer types.
So, I reached out to a sports commentator who gives out his Xhitter handle during broadcasts. I pointed out to him (via email) that Xhitter is a closed system and email is platform independent, so maybe he should give out his email address instead (I did suggest the Fediverse, but I had no real hope there). He essentially said, "You can look up my email address and send me stuff, like you did."
But we all know that is not the same as interacting on social media. He probably doesn't check his email during the broadcast and no one else can see my email and respond to it.
So here is the question: Is there a way to make email more like social media? Would it be possible to have a website display the content of emails as "posts" on social media. Or could Fedi tech be used for this? I envision the broadcaster setting up an "interaction page" where fans could send posts to (like social media) bypassing the proprietary social media platforms.
Seems like it would be easy, but I have no idea if that is the case. Any ideas?
