I am a 42 year old #actuallyautistic Scottish #trans woman. I did my degree in #computerscience and attempted a PhD in #interactivenarrative before stuff happened and anyway now I'm back at university studying #audioengineering.

I like #music but I am bad at it and I try to impress people by saying I speak five #languages but between you and me I'm bad at them, too.

I'm into #ffxiv as my avatar probably indicates, FF in general, really, and I think #anime is real I mean good. That'll do I think. What else do you need to know?

I think Stacey Mason's PhD thesis, Responsiveness in Narrative Systems, provides a terrific way to think about player agency and game responsiveness as the two sides of a dialogue between player and game, and to start thinking about the different kinds of responsiveness and where we might look for low-hanging fruit in our own designs.

But it's also nearly 300 pages: it's hard to say, "hey everybody, go read this!" So I finally wrote down my attempt at a "good bits" summary[1] hoping to inspire more people to dig into this.

I spend a lot of time trying to make the Interactive Comic Book Maker draw lines that look really good, buuuut...

It can be used to plan or communicate before the art is done, scribble *on* the art to give feedback, or if you just love the janky MS paint aesthetic, you can even include it in the final comic with the tick of a box.
