I wonder if peoples blood sugar does different things during a meal. Some people find it important to eat a meal with other people. I find it most enjoyable to eat the meal without talking or socializing. It’s almost like I’m trying to do two things like watch a TV show and socialize. I would much rather socialize while I’m driving or while I’m walking or sitting at a campfire. Or looking at the clouds. I really can’t socialize well at a meal. I know people feel strongly about this because they will go out of their way and not let another person eat alone and they will act offended if you suggest that you will leave the room and they will eat alone.

Metabolic health emerges as key to brain and memory problems in bipolar disorder

While they share similar depressive and cognitive symptoms, the biological underpinnings of bipolar disorder and major depressive disorder are distinct. A novel study appearing in Biological Psychiatry: Cognitive Neuroscience and Neuroimaging is the first to identify clinically relevant pathways linking metabolic dysfunction, brain structure, and cognition in mood disorders, with stronger and more specific effects observed in bipolar disorder. It highlights the potential of targeting metabolic pathways to improve cognitive symptoms in bipolar disorder.

Californians with diabetes can now purchase state-branded insulin for just $11 a dose!

"Long-acting insulin pens will be available at pharmacies for $11 per pen — or $55 for a five-pack — beginning Jan. 1, 2026. The pens are interchangeable with glargine, the generic alternative for Lantus, a once-a-day injection that regulates blood sugar. An equivalent amount of Lantus sells to pharmacies for more than $92, according to data compiled by the governor’s office, but consumers may pay a different price based on their insurance. "
