It's not super well-established yet, but it's not brand new either, so tomorrow's your chance to shine! 😀 I've also seen #bugReport for all kinds of creepy-crawlies. Or #dailyBug or #bugOfTheDay. And of course, there's #InsectSaturday/#Insektensamstag. Believe it or not, I've only ever come up with one hashtag myself (Farnsehen, inspired by a comment from arcturus), the rest of my hashtag schedule is borrowed from all over the Fediverse. I might have helped spread them, but I can't claim credit for creating them. 😅

BEES ARE KEYSTONE

🐝 Researchers in AU estimate far more bee species globally than previously estimated, specifically an 18–25% increase.

🍅 Knowledge of bees supports their conservation and pollination of crops, which is worth roughly A$745 billion per year.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦🧑‍🧑‍🧒👩‍👩‍👦‍👦 Pollination is also crucial for our diet and wellbeing with 75% of food crop diversity and 35% of total food production benefiting from animal pollination.

🪨 Bees are what’s called a “keystone” group. Removing populations of that group would result in cascading ecological impacts (not in a good way).

Last week riding on the levee trail an orangish dragonfly quickly crossed my path. The shape matches this species and based on historical record this species may be active in NM this early in the season. So this is my educated guess.
