[ES] ¡Vaya par de jamones se gasta el amigo! Qué pena que no conseguí una foto mejor, porque el bicho es precioso. Es una especie florícola con fuerte dimorfismo sexual: solo los machos tienen esos fémures abultados. Se distribuye por Europa y el norte de África.

[EN] Look at those hams! I couldn't get a better photo of this beautiful insect, what a pity! Adults can be found on flowers. The species shows a strong sexual dimorphism: only the males have such swollen femora. It is distributed in Europe and northern Africa.

Stenurella melanura (fam. Cerambycidae). Hembra/Female

[ES] Dice mi página web favorita sobre cerambícidos* que esta es probablemente la especie de longicornio más común y extendida del paleártico norte, apareciendo abundantemente desde el océano atlántico (Portugal) hasta el pacífico (Rusia). Los imagos son florícolas, mientras que las larvas se alimentan de madera en descomposición. Su ciclo vital dura dos años.
Fotografié esta inquieta hembra, con grandes dificultades, sobre una flor de Jasione (familia Campanulaceae).

[EN] Cite from my favourite webpage about cerambycids*: "S. mellanura is probably the most common and widespread North Palearctic longhorn beetle, occurring in abundance on flowers from the Atlantic (Portugal) to the Pacific Ocean (Russian Far East)". Adults feed on flowers, while larvae feed on rotten wood. They complete their life cicle in two years.
This restless female was photographed on a Jasione's flower (family Campanulaceae).

Anisoplia baetica (fam. Scarabaeidae)

[ES] Hacía tanto viento que decidí sujetar el tallo de la planta para poder hacer una foto en condiciones, pero entonces el escarabajo encogió las antenas. Conseguí una fotografía mejor, prefiero esta borrosa en la que el bicho está en su estado natural antes de que yo tocara la planta. Esto confirma, una vez más, mi norma de no alterar nada cuando salgo a hacer fotos en la naturaleza, pues la más leve perturbación tiene su efecto.

[EN] It was so windy I decided to hold the plant's stalk to be able to take a good photo, but then the beetle hid its antennae. I got a better picture, but I prefer this blurred one in which the bug is in its natural state before I touched the plant. This confirms, once more, my rule of not disturbing anything when I'm taking photos in the nature, because the smallest perturbation has its effect.

Camptogramma bilineata (fam. Geometridae)

[ES] Para hacer la foto tuve que tumbarme completamente en el suelo boca arriba y tirar de flash para compensar el brutal contraluz al que me forzó esta preciosa polilla al posarse en el envés de la hoja. Es un comportamiento habitual de muchas polillas el posarse en el envés de las hojas cuando vuelan de día.

[EN] To take this photo, I had to lay with my back on the ground and use the flash to compensate the strong backlight. Many moth species like to rest on the bottom side of the leaves when they fly during the day.

Platycnemis acutipennis (fam. Platycnemididae). Macho/Male

[ES] Los Platycnemis se caracterizan por tener los ojos muy separados (más que otros caballitos del diablo) y por tener las tibias del segundo y tercer par de patas ensanchadas (en unas especies se ve mejor que en otras). Apenas presentan dimorfismo sexual, aunque comparando fotos he llegado a la conclusión de que esto es un macho por la forma de los cercos. Vuelan despacio y sin hacer ruido y se desplazan hacia atrás y lateralmente como los helicópteros.
Se distribuye ampliamente por la península Ibérica y también por Francia. Está ligada a aguas lentas o pantanos, como en este caso.

[EN] The species belonging to the genus Platycnemis have very separated eyes (more than other damselfly species) and wide tibiae in the second and third pair of legs. Sexual dimorphism isn't very noticeable, but I think this is a male because of the form of its cerci. Their flight is slow and they are able to move backwards and laterally, like a helicopter.
It is widely distributed across the Iberian peninsule and also in France.

Boyeria irene (fam. Aeshnidae). Macho/male.

[ES] Qué mal, no existe ninguna "Bollería Irene" en España. Alguien debería abrir una.
No me gusta mucho la foto, pero es la primera vez que veo esta especie y solo me dio esta oportunidad. Es una libélula grande, de vuelo rápido y potente. Según odonatos.com, ponen los huevos en cursos de aguas rápidas, donde se desarrollan las ninfas durante varios años, y los imagos los abandonan para buscarse la vida por ahí, incluso en las ciudades. También, según esa web, vuelan de julio a septiembre, por lo que hoy, 27 de mayo, sería prontísimo para verla.

[EN] In Spanish, the word "Boyeria" sounds like "Bollería", which means bakery ("bollo" means bun), and Irene is a women's name. So, "Boyeria irene" sounds like the name of a baker's shop.
I don't like the photo much, but this is the first time I see this species and it only gave me one chance to shoot. This is a big dragonfly with a quick powerfull flight. According to odonatos.com (in Spanish), they lay their eggs in torrents, where the nymphs grow for many years; then, the adults leave those waters and can be seen anywhere, even in cities. In addition, they fly from july to september, so today, the 27th of May, is too son to see them.
