I snagged some Ubiquiti UDIM-AT light switches, and was hoping to get level data and "button press" data out of them and I'd relay that on to other things.
NOPE
After getting a uck-g2-plus so I could install the Unifi Connect stuff (WHY isn't that a container or some other thing so I can run that on a much nicer machine than the uck-g2-plus and not have to deal with this?!) I got it upgraded, associated, and after some mashing with a stick, I got it into Home Assistant.
YAY!
But the Connect interface and the HA interface basically show a whole lot of nothing remotely useful, because the switch isn't associated to anything - because duh?
So at this point it's an expensively failed experiment and I'm back to building my own. It would be lovely if I could get Inovelli involved, that would be downright lovely, but realistically I'm guessing I'm on my own for wanting POE light switches to augment / control the switches I've got in places where getting full power to doesn't make sense.
Ohhhhh well wanders off to poke at paddle light switch dimensions and how to get a 3d printable paddle going

First parts of my smart ceiling fan project came in. I'm using the #Inovelli blue dimmer and canopy module. These can be directly connected using bindings to each other through #HomeAssistant to control both the light (inc dimming) and the fan (inc speed) individually.
