@ChrisMayLA6

I had best declare an interest in that #wandsworth - where I live - is one of the #boroughs in #innerlondon most affected. If pushed I would be willing to campaign in a local referendum for an increase of more than 5% in council tax if the alternative were major cuts in services. I might not like doing so but would be inclined to prefer the unpalatable to the disastrous!

@ChrisMayLA6 A complication is that several of the most conspicuous losers are councils under #labour administration - most notably in #innerlondon . Managing redistribution is likely to be very tricky - particularly if councils are not allowed to increase council tax rates by more than 5% p.a. without either special permission or approval in a local referendum. Having said that some of the ideas proposed - such as including a 'sparsity factor' to help thinly-populated areas - are long overdue.
Rather remarkably there appears to have been one positive effect from the crackdown on #nondoms by first #jeremyhunt and now #rachelreeves . House prices in #kensingtonandchelsea are now back to the 2013 level - reported in the #ft today. Apparently real - if relatively wealthy - people may be moving there from further out . A surprising benefit to #housing in #london - although possibly also a political lifeline for the #conservatives in the one #innerlondon borough they still control!

@Wen

It may result also in there being less school closures in parts of #innerlondon where demographic changes had led to falling pupil numbers. Not perhaps the point they would wish to make!
