@Parker51 Occasionally I also use #inkcartridges, especially when I'm not at home. However, I take the empty cartridges home to wash out and #refill them. Again and again as often as possible.

But I much prefer converters and #ink glasses at my desk at home.

You don't hate #Printers, but #InkjetPrinters!

"#LaserPrinters" (or rather #LED-Printers) don't have that issue...

HP has effectively blocked the use of third party ink cartridges - Desk Chair Analysts

HP has made an awful consumer decision by bricking printers that have third party ink cartridges installed in them.

#HP's CEO made the bullshit claim that they block third-party #InkCartridges from their #printers in order to fight viruses.
Many #security experts agree that it's a highly unlikely attack vector, which confirms that it's a greedy move in order to protect their IP and subscription model

Via @arstechnica: #HP started bricking #printers with third-party #InkCartridges *years* before it commissioned the sole (theoretical) #security research justifying it.

It's not about #CyberSecurity. It’s about protecting their #RecurringRevenue from #ink and pushing customers into their #InstantInk subscription program.

HP disables customers’ printers if they use ink cartridges from cheaper rivals

HP has sparked fury after issuing a #firmware update which blocks customers from using cheaper, non-HP ink cartridges in its printers.

Customers’ devices were remotely updated in line with new terms which mean their printers will not work unless they are fitted with approved #inkcartridges
