Revisiting my not-so-successful roll of infrared for #MonochromeMonday.

Slowly editing photos over time feels like a "failed to keep up with backlog" for me, but I'm trying to turn that into "stretching the good experience longer while learning over time", it's a difficult mental jujitsu.

Infrared film is quite wild (even though it didn't turn out right) it looks magical. At first glance this looks like a winter scene but there was no snow. The trees are green not white, the water is light to deep turquoise not black but somehow the rocks come out about what they look like.
It's been a good idea to visit this roll after a bit and see the images without the initial disappointment of mistakes-made compounded by non-ideal weather. I'll have a few more to post later.

Dark Horizon.
8x10 pinhole on a windy day along the grassy shore of Lake Michigan. 2-minute exposure with Efke IR820 film + medium red filter (thus the dark water and slight infrared effect).

Camera: Jung Woo 45
Lens: DO Industries 150mm f5.6
Shutter: Copal 0
Film: Efke IR820
Filter: R72

Notes taken at the time (6th July 2013):
A few more test photos using IR820 and an R72. The base sensitivity of the film is 100, but I shot this at an EI of 0.375. Still getting fogging and now also some damage to the negative (blotches). It's not water marks. It looks like it's a fault in the substraight. :(

Pretty good Woods Effect, none the less. I also manually corrected the focussing using about 1mm of extra bellows extension.

I've read somewhere on the 'net that infrared film dies quickly and dies an ugly death. So I shot a roll of Kodak HIE expired in 2006 and can confirm the saying! 😐

Kodak HIE developed in FX39II 1+14 at 19°C.
Nikon FE with Tamron Adaptall-2 24mm F2.5 lens, IR720nm filter.
Plustek OpticFilm 8100 + VueScan, and a lot of dodging and burning to get somewhat presentable results.
