His questions set up #Trump to complain about everything from supposed liberal bias in schools —"Even the teachers have been brainwashed” Trump said — & border security (tho, unusually, Trump did not mention Hannibal Lecter). Trump…praised Ross as an “outstanding" young man, predicted that the livestream would break viewership records…🙄

I have been asking for a while how the #SupremeCourt, without serious requirement to be #impartial, is consistent with a #democratic government, especially when who is allowed to be in the court is so connected to a random system of when the justice dies or retires.

Now it seems clear that it is fully #antidemocratic and proud of the fact.

…Chief Justice #JohnRoberts often sounds more like #Trump’s lawyer than the #impartial judge he presents himself as. Roberts writes that “w/respect to the President’s exercise of his core constitutional powers, this #immunity must be absolute.” If that applies …to a sitting president manufacturing a scheme to avoid relinquishing #power after losing an #election, then there is no #legal constraint on a president simply refusing to leave office & using his authority to find a pretext for doing so.
