What is Vaaler-Rose test?
This analysis consists in the direction of antibodies against the immunoglobulins present in the plasma.
Rheumatoid arthritis can be detected using the Waaler-Rose test.
What is protein electrophoresis?
Protein electrophoresis consists in separating the various components of proteins from plasma under the influence of an electric field in order to identify each of them.
Protein electrophoresis is needed to study immune deficiency or the amount of immunoglobulins.

Complementary-determining region 3 (CDR3) of the light chain interacts with the extended CDR3 of the paired heavy chain in bovine ultralong antibodies. Exchanging light chains between two different ultralong antibodies induced a small axial twist in the CDR3H β-ribbon stalk region; however, comparative crystallographic interface analysis indicates that the ultralong loops have flexibility and their positioning is affected by crystal packing.
A developer of an auto-injection technology says its device can deliver a biologic drug under the skin in a fraction of the time of conventional syringes.

Immunoglobulin A (IgA) deficiency is the most common primary immune deficiency worldwide, but its presentation has puzzled physicians and researchers. Some with the disorder present with symptoms like recurrent infections, autoimmune disease, or allergies, whereas others have no symptoms at all and only become aware of their IgA-deficient status through an incidental finding on a blood test. This variability has raised the question among researchers: Why aren't many of those with IgA deficiency sicker?
"High #immunoglobulin A (IgA) during acute COVID infection may be a biomarker for predicting who will get #LongCOVID, especially in adults and elderly groups. Rutgers University will be recruiting 2000 children to study SARS-CoV-2 antibodies in kids with Long COVID compared to those without.
The WHO had a feature on a 12-year-old boy named Jay who has long COVID and is unable to walk and is housebound to show some of the extreme consequences of long COVID in children"

This week we are seeing a sort of variant soup again with many different subvariants putting pressure on XBB.1.5, but none that are strong enough to push XBB.1.5 out of first place by itself. This is good news. Variant testing will now be reported by the CDC every two weeks.
Recently in @sciencemagazine, Ellen Shrock, Stephen Elledge, & colleagues reported that human #immunoglobulin V gene segments encode GRAB motifs that help with #antibody recognition & may explain why different individuals can generate antibodies against the same #pathogen epitopes!

#preLighter Nadja Hümpfer covers a #preprint which describes the combination of #SRRF analysis with 10-fold expansion microscopy #ExM. 🔬 Their approach allows a final resolution of 1 nm; a #resolution at which the shape of individual proteins becomes apparent when labelled with a pan-protein staining.
