Having recently read it aloud at a charity event, I have finally just published to my website my 2012 essay "Lie to Me", written at the time for my friend Juli, inviting honesty, which it suggests is more about trust, immediacy and fearlessness than it is about truth. I figured somehow that Valentine's week was a good time to get it out into the world.

When I visited the massive ancient Angel Oak tree on John's Island, SC I was all in - the smell of it, spongey ground from the roots and earth underfoot, dipping swooping branches, strong rough bark, and scads of people who wanted me to figure out their greasy phone and take their picture then got ragey hostile when I said "No thanks, I'm just here to dig on the tree" wander on "Hey lady take my picture" sigh #Immediacy #JustSayNo
