What do monitors do that tellies do not when it comes to dealing with image retention? Is this based upon the choice between an OLED telly and an LED/LCD monitor?
I've been using an old LCD Panasonic telly as a monitor for years. It appears to have been designed for use as both telly and monitor, as it has a VGA input. I suspect that you're more up-to-date on OLED than I am. (-:

I just noticed that I am starting to get some screen #burnin / #imageretention on my #iPhone 14 Pro Max. The time and widgets from the time and widgets from the always on display are starting to be visible at all times.
As of now, this issue is only visible on dark backgrounds at very low brightness (so while in dark mode at night), so that’s good. Still disappointing though.
I've been having problems with vertical lines, flickering, and ghosting on an external 4K monitor connected to my M1 MacBook Air.
The symptoms persist when I unplug the video cable or select another input on the monitor or KVM, so I have assumed it's a defective monitor. I replaced the monitor and it's still happening.

My M1 MacBook Air has a serious problem with external displays. Pinging the brains here in case there are any ideas more convenient than sending back to Apple. Connecting directly via a known-good USB-C to DisplayPort cable, my Dell U2713HM (1) flickers, (2) shows vertical lines, and (3) mixes...
