I just. I dunno.
I noticed something, about the lines that people fixate on, when it comes to Silco.

He steals pretty much any scene he's a part of, that's for sure. The VA fucking slaughtered this role, beginning to end… there's such a wealth of fantasticly delivered lines, and he's such a fascinating character…
Which I guess is why this frustrates me.

The lines, you know? In some of my favorite scenes. :P

That chem-baron-meeting scene.
Folks make art and edits around the whole, "I gave you life" bit….when, "We came from a place where there was never enough to go around, Finn. THAT is why we fight.", is standing right there. t.t

And the scene after that, with Sevika. Folks focus on the having "to share the air with parasites like you" line…when "brothers and sisters standing back-to-back against everything the world could throw at us" part gets so ignored.

Maybe I'm just huffing farts here. …Probably.
It just feels lonely. Because it feels like I'm liking Silco for waayyyy different reasons than other people do….

Yeah… it's gotta be me.

But see, that sort of points to, like.
…Like, depending on which lines you see as the core of him, it makes him a completely different character….

Again, that's the whole point of fiction. Everyone interprets differently. The blorbo I'm shaking in my jar is a deeeeeply traumatized antihero.
Not a true villain.

My headcanon, the true villain is PILTOVER.

…Worst of all I can slowwwwly feel all this fixation fading.
To the point where I'm only going to be left with a handful of viable scenes written between my OC and him… and it feels like, though I kind of want to read what other people are writing about him, the Silco who is more about the power and riches is such a turn off (TO ME. ^^; I totally do get that.), compared to the old man who was invested in The Struggle from the start …not as an excuse. Not as a mere, thin, smokescreen for his current murderous and maladaptive coping mechanisms.

Taking a peek at the version others are shaking in their jars makes me see just how close to not working the scenes that I have, become.

Because Quayli is who she is -- despite certainly having her own flaws -- the situations depend on Silco genuinely wanting better for Zaun, and only needing to heal and calm the fuck down a little in order to adopt more community-focused organizing (as he was presumably ALREADY DOING before the Bridge Massacre) -- and do less of the 'exploiting my own people because I'm scared of the nobles' junk….

My OC would have said, "Attraction be damned, I can't possibly give a fuck" and locked herself off from him, if Silco wasn't actually ABOUT something.

That's the crux of it.

So. Sounds pitiful.
But I need to hold on to my own version for just a while longer, so I can finish these one shots, before the fixation evaporates completely.

Then I'll open the dam and let what the fandom thinks wash it all away. Maybe have a drink and a laugh. And find another fixation to latch on to.
