Remembering my friend Richard Forrest, a marine reptile expert, with a week or two of marine reptile artworks. I'll start with this old acrylic painting, called The Wreck, which I created for Richard back in 2004.

Ancient #BoneEatingWorms ate mosasaur, ichthyosaur and plesiosaur skeletons https://phys.org/news/2025-07-ancient-bone-worms-ate-mosasaur.html paper by Sarah Jamison-Todd et al.: https://journals.plos.org/plosone/article?id=10.1371/journal.pone.0326451

"These bone-eating communities are ancient, and have been on Earth for at least 100 million years. Before #whales existed, bone-eating #worms were eating into the skeletons of #mosasaurs, #ichthyosaurs and #plesiosaurs... New research has named seven of these burrow types... some are very similar to the burrows of living #Osedax worms."

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

The 2022 Korean translation of Locked in Time (by Dr Dean Lomax) commissioned me to colourise my 50 greyscale illustrations. Here's "The Transient Oasis," showing a colony of Seirocrinus crinoids drifting on deadwood.

My 25 years of palaeoart chronology...

In 2021 I created a bunch of paintings for the Children's Museum of Indianapolis, USA. I painted four murals and three illustrations for graphics boards. Here's one of the illustrations featuring the ichthyosaur Baptanodon.

New addition to the bookshelf, ‘Ocean Life in the Time of Dinosaurs’ by Bardet et al. First impressions are positive. It’s great to see obscure groups getting coverage with plenty of diagrams and artwork, not just the #plesiosaurs, #ichthyosaurs and #mosasaurs.

In 2021 I teamed up with The Royal Mint and the Natural History Museum again to create the Mary Anning Coin Collection, the second collection from the Tales of the Earth series. Here's the limited edition print I designed and signed.
