Just eyed my tangerine iBook tucked in the corner.
Anyone still keeping these running?
Could it even handle the modern web? Early wifi.
It has classic Mac OS, and I would need a power brick to even start it up. Battery? The power adapter had something akin to an RCA connection.
If I could get text files over to it, it had my most highly tweaked and useful regex packed copy of BBEdit I’ve ever had I loved to see again, along with other archaeology.
Nel 1999 Jobs creò #iBook: colorato, economico, pieno di compromessi. Oggi il #MacBookNeo costa €699. Gruber dice che Jobs lo avrebbe amato. Ha ragione? La risposta vi sorprenderà. Forse.

Sooo... the Macbook Neo uses an iPhone SoC and is a Macbook. I think they should have called it... iBook! 😀
Now if it could run an earlier OS version than macOS Tahoe...
I also wonder if the Neo's A18 SoC's bootloader is unlocked to enable using m1n1 and an Asahi Linux (and maybe *BSD) port in the future.

It would be an interesting pivot for #Apple if the rumoured low-cost MacBook had a touch screen and ran iPadOS—an #iBook rather than a #MacBook. https://www.macrumors.com/2026/02/20/low-cost-macbook-latest-rumors/
