Ian McDonald is a British SF author exploring technological change in non-Western societies. His debut Desolation Road won the Locus Award. River of Gods, set in a future India, won the BSFA Award with Hugo and Clarke nominations. He has also won the Hugo, the Philip K. Dick, and five BSFA Awards overall.

Ein leises Gitarrenarpeggio erklang aus einer kleinen Bar in der Nähe des Fulham Palace, als Robert Fripp, ein ambitionierter Gitarrist mit visionären Ideen, und seine Weggefährten – bald darauf als King Crimson bekannt – ihre ersten Töne zusammentrugen. Die Atmosphäre war elektrisierend, als Musikliebhaber das Versprechen einer neuen musikalischen Ära spürten, in der Grenzen zwischen Rock, Jazz, Klassik und experimentellen Klängen verschwimmen sollten.

Seperated By Space & Time

Several years ago I randomly discovered these two images, one a photo from 1973, the other a painting from around 2009. I was struck by the similarity of the two men separated by space + time!

The photograph of the young man leaning against a houseboat was taken by UK Photographer lan McDonald in Middlesbrough.

The painting is by Martha's Vineyard resident Heather Neill. Titled The Bogcutter it is a portrait of the artist's son!
