📚 Now that I'm back in Brisbane from my #IAMCR2023 trip, I've posted a quick update on a few of my new publications over on the blog:
• structure of 'the' public sphere
• platform policy audit
• destructive polarisation
• social media analytics

I'm excited to be presenting my first of two papers at #IAMCR23 later at 4pm today...
... but also dreading it as it's forecast to be 37 degrees throughout the afternoon in Lyon. 🫠
there's a few #iamcr2023 folks here! (It also doesn't help there's no agreement on hashtag...) It's not totally empty, but it's still a drop for a conference with hundreds of participants. I just read your reflections on your conference

I feel the same way. I made my Twitter account 10years ago to participate in parallel conversations at conferences, it makes me slightly sad that there are barely any at this moment...
I had a really great time at #socrel23 - the annual conference of the Sociology of Religion Study Group for the British Sociological Association. I built a space for myself at conferences through tweets, and I did so this week. We're not a huge group, but there were usually a few others who would engage, comment, etc, plus those outside the event keeping tabs through the hashtag. Two things (in two more toots): 1) Engagement is down on Twitter 2) Next to nothing on Mastodon
En route pour #Lyon to join #IAMCR2023.
Tomorrow, I'll be presenting joint work with Maria Grub & Peter Vorderer on #Learning and #IllusionOfKnowing as outcomes of #SocialMedia #News exposure.
Join the #PolComm #MediaEffects panel at 2pm in Amphi3.
