I can officially say I've used hot glue to fix a piece of retro tech.

…and not to hold things together for final assembly.

It was a fantastic approach from Reddit for popping off the plastic end plates on this $2 garage sale iPod Mini (gen 2). You glue a dowel/stick to the plate and pry it off without gouging up the edge.

19 years ago today, Apple introduced the iPod mini! I coveted this thing as a kid, but didn’t get one of my own until a few years ago. Now it’s one of my favourite objects in my growing tech collection. 💚 #iPodmini #Apple

Fun fact: a day after this arrived from ebay, the hard drive inside died and I replaced it with a CompactFlash card. Not a fun project and I caused some damage in the process, but as Steve would say, “boy does it scream!”
