I really hate it when companies make you pull out excel in order to know which "package" to buy.

And I hate it even more when you then find out that they ricked it so that you need to buy all of them to get the full set...

(to be fair at ifixit you can also buy the screwdrivers individually, but this just made a good example for what most companies are doing these days)

#Lazyweb, who has experience with #iPod batteries and can share a good source/brand for a replacement battery for an iPod nano 3rd generation? Yes, I checked, #iFixIt doesn't sell that one in Europe for some reason. They do have one for my older iPod classic 6th gen though :)

This cute little fella popped up on the bench today for bios flash.

Customer had this very PC already fixed in another shop, then decided to update bios himself and unit stopped posting.

Love how easy this GMKTec K12 is to disassemble really. Though bios chip choice and placement are rather questionable - was unable to reach it with my clip and had to desolder.

Anyways it was a nice and easy morning routine, so why not ✅

@cassolotl Have the same machine now running Linux Mint. Mine had a failing harddrive. Replaced it, bumped up memory to 4GB and only just in time changed the almost exploding battery. With the help of #ifixit
It remains an old computer, but it works surprisingly well. Perfect to explore the chosen Linux distribution.

Learning new stuff - programming ITE EC chip over the keyboard connector with #SVOD4 without needing to desolder the chip.

One thing I can tell you is you better use a microscope to make sure you’re picking the right ribbon cable and that you align it well while plugging.

Quite a fiddly thing to deal with but eventually I made it work.
