I made a thing

I’m calling my thing Matt’s Web Way – it’s like WWW had one of its Ws flipped into MWW.

By design, it is truly minimal. The slightest CSS, mostly just HTML (or markdown (with YAML front matter) converted to HTML), only the content (and one return home link), nothing else.

I think I shall use it to store documentation for my projects and lists I might need to link to.

Eh. Why not? Let's publish something today. Here's a song I've been sitting on. youtu.be/NO-8pzIasuM?... Stuffing money into DistroKid's maw, should be on Spotify/YT Music/Apple Music/Tidal/Your mom's 8-track player from high school/park benches in like a few days or so. Check it. #ididathing

The #SundaySlice was a bit late today, owing to me making #kimchi as well. I've never made kimchi before, and it's kinda terrifying to just shove a bunch of cabbage in a jar and then leave it out to ferment. I'm not 100% sure that I'm not going to just end up with poisonous slime. So for the slice I went with a trusted old recipe. This is from the wonderful Woman's Weekly biscuit and slice book. It's in the "healthy" section, and true enough, unlike most slices and biscuits doesnt contain truckloads of butter, and is kinda high in protein. I used to make it for kid's lunchboxes, where it got eaten, but was by no means a favourite. Too healthy. It's quite middle eastern tasting with the sesame, I usually add some tahini to it but the spot at the back of the fridge where the tahini jar lives was empty. I also add baking powder to make it a bit lighter. I remembered as I was putting it in the oven that subbing some honey in for the sugar is nice. Next time.
Read the #altText on the second image for the full recipe and notes.

Sunday slice #2. Based on the recipe here, https://www.taste.com.au/recipes/chocolate-caramel-slice/e809e9d7-1091-4262-ac89-b9b412f23b06?r=baking/2mwdj93e
I added a teaspoon of miso to the base, subbed actual caramel for the golden syrup in the caramel layer, and made the top out of straight dark cooking chocolate with added Dutch cocoa, no copha.
Making caramel is easy, you just put some white sugar in a stainless steel saucepan (don't use non-stick, it gets too hot) and put on medium heat, and stir until you regret your life choices, and the sugar melts, and stir some more just until it goes, well, caramel colour. Then immediately remove the heat.
I tried mixing this straight into the condensed milk mixture which was stupid, because it immediately solidified. I should have added the butter to the caramel and a small amount of water and boiled it until it dissolved, and then added the condensed milk and cooked it down. But it worked in the end, just with a lot more stirring.
I might try making a #vegan version, maybe thickening the caramel with tapioca starch or something.

More #climbing gear, hot off the Bernina. A chalk bag for lead climbing, to match the bouldering one I made a while ago. I'm particularly proud of the attachment system. Two Velcro straps that loop through the back gear loops on my harness, meaning that it stays where you want it, and the Velcro is swapped on each loop so you can use it as a single loop if you need. This is an iteration of the last one I made, but with chonkier fabric. #sewing #IDidAThing
Still on my #sewing bullshit with heavy-duty backpack fabric. Have you ever seen how much #bike frame bags cost? This one has two zipped compartments, and a side pocket for my glasses. I might start putting the patterns I make up on my blog, but until then let me know if you want a copy. #IDidAThing #IMadeAThing
