Like an idiot I hadn't put a volt meter to them. They aren't 6V cells (my old ones...) in one series circuit, but 12V in two parallel strings. So yeah, a 12V charger won't move 24V worth of cells much north of 14V. Tomorrow I'll get it running in no time. 2/2

I spent much of the day trickle charging my solar system batteries which were too low for the charge controller to handle. Disconnected them in pairs, 4 islands, two chargers, alternating every few hours. But the voltage only went from 29V to 36V, as reported by the charge controller. 1/2
