Finally I managed to make my graphics work again in FreeBSD after upgrading from 14.1 to 14.2 on my Thinkpad. I wrote a post about it in case someone could find it useful. Comments and suggestions are welcome.

#FreeBSD #Thinkpad #i915kms

/home/lucio.albenga.es - FreeBSD: KLD i915kms.ko depends on kernel - not available or version mismatch.

FWIW...

If you migrated from 14.1-RELEASE to 14.2-RELEASE and have any Intel Graphics (sandribridge), you may get a black screen at reboot when kld_list=i915kms...

A quick fix, try uninstalling graphics/drm-61-kmod (drm-kmod-20220907_3) and install graphics/drm-515-kmod...

#freebsd
#freebsd14.2
#intel
#i915kms
Yay, I could get #FreeBSD to run with full #graphics in both VTs and #Xorg! So far it only works properly when loading the #kernel, iicbus, iic, iicbb, #drm2 and #i915kms manually from the #bootloader prompt and running the display manager manually. #Wifi is quirky though.
