Hype for the Future 137B → Installation of Alpine Linux (32-bit)

Overview The system requirements for Alpine Linux for x86 are based on the 32-bit system architecture of the software, thus supporting both 32-bit and 64-bit systems largely associated with Intel and AMD processors. The architecture is also often known as i386, i486, i586, or i686, depending on the particular system kernel requirements and intended type of system. Usually, with Alpine Linux, the server-side distribution is designed to support certain legacy Intel Pentium processors, […]

@0x47df not really, it's cross-compiling at the same endian-ness...

IOPS is the most limiting factor tho.

#linux

#Agama 18 officially drops #i586 support. #Kalpa no longer installable with Agama (for now, but hopefully in the future). Major API upgrades are underway! #openSUSE #Linux https://agama-project.github.io/blog/2025/11/17/agama-18

Firefox to end support for 32-bit Linux in 2026 - gHacks Tech News

Mozilla has announced that it will end support for Firefox on 32-bit Linux systems in 2026. This shouldn't affect most users, but still it's something worth mentioning. ADVERTISEMENT It may seem surprising […]

@PCsfueralle Ich würde einfach garnicht #Windows / #microsoft365 deployen & nutzen sondern konsequent auf ressourcenschonendere und sichere Alternativen setzen.

@ubuntu / #UbuntuLTS ist recht Einsteigerfreundlich und kommt mit @libreoffice / #LibreOffice als Vorinstallation.

Raspberry Pi OS (previously called Raspbian) is our official, supported operating system.

@gettie @chesheer most distros nowadays effectively want at least #i586 if not #i686 support...
