The last few days of this week have been quite interesting. A few days ago, my digestive and urinary systems suddenly stopped working for no apparent reason. They began to normalize on the second day, but today I'm still urinating very little. After tests and ultrasounds, it appears to be a worsening, a kind of autoimmune flare-up or the same neurogenic bladder I've had for a few years. The cause behind this is neurological damage that will need to be pinpointed. It could be at the spinal cord or brain level. We also have several suspects or culprits: diabetes (which seems to be shifting toward D1) and the autoimmune hypothyroidism itself. These have been days of complete lack of blood sugar control, with edema, high blood pressure fluctuations, muscle spasms, paresis, and severe pain in my head, teeth, stomach, and joints.
Once the acute symptoms have passed, I'll have to return to the rheumatologist, neurologist, nephrologist, and endocrinologist, and then do whatever I want.

There is an ongoing debate in #endocrinology about whether to treat #hypothyroidism with L-T4 alone or a combination therapy with L-T4 and L-T3. But what about patients’ preferences? The majority would choose the combination therapy, as shown in a meta-analysis.

Patients with #hypothyroidism, even when treated with levothyroxine (L-T4), face increased risk of #dementia and #fatality. Fortunately, the risk can be lowered again by a combination therapy with L-T4 and L-T3, as shown by a recent study.

The temperature today at 6 a.m. was 4°C and the real temperature was 3°C. But for people with autoimmune hypothyroidism like me, whose metabolism takes a long time to kick into gear, feels like -2°C 😒😒😒

#Syndrome_T, i.e. persistent symptoms and reduced #QoL despite normal #TSH concentration, affects 10% of #hypothyroid patients on #levothyroxine. Careful, multimodal and personalised treatment can result in significantly improved outcomes.

I'm a big fan of the cold team, a lover of winter and my basal temperature in the mornings... 😅

Seems I’m desperate enough to go to the media for help. Yes, the trapped woman in the article below is me.

My story: https://www.thecanary.co/global/world-analysis/2024/05/03/me-cfs-anna-australia/

I’ve tried every level of government and they simply won’t help.
- Please ask people if they have a spare room or somewhere to go. Maybe you have somewhere?
- Is anybody a #DisabilityAdvocate? #SocialWorker? Need help.

Please don’t give me contacts for domestic violence orgs. They don’t help disabled people with housing & only offer counselling. Also, that list of disability advocates going around for #Melbourne #Australia (where I am) is outdated - there aren’t any in my catchment. So I’m looking for volunteers with some background.

Australia's state and services are trapping a woman living with severe ME/CFS in domestic abuse

"Doctor, what is it?"

"Bad news, I'm afraid."

"Give it to me straight."

"You suffer from hippothyroidism."

"Oh, it just means my thyroid is not producing enough. Not that big of a deal, right?"

"I said hippothyroidism, not hypothyroidism. You have the thyroid of a horse."

"Oh. May I ask a question?"

"Go ahead."

"Which horse is it whose thyroid I have?"

"The maternity test was inconclusive. We're thinking seahorse."

"What's the treatment?"

"Buy yourself water wings and wear them 24/7."
