New AgeWhen I think about it, it's hard for me to remember the proper sequence of events in Dan Simmons' four-book Hyperion Cantos sf story. Partly the time travel in the story is to blame and partly just because it is such a complex story. Well worth reading, though. The gaps in my recollection have been bugging me so I'm gonna have to dig into it again.

I swear I'll finish my little essay on Hyperion and Big Tech one of these days! I was able to carve out an hour or so of my schedule to work on it today. What's embarrassing is that it's not that long. Probably a 10 minute read, but I just want to do a good job. I keep saying I'll find more time to write but then what should I give up to find that time? I have so many little projects I want to do.

I recently finished the Hyperion Cantos series and I've been thinking about some of the ideas... Notably what happens at the end of the second book and how I see it as a metaphor to what some of us in the fediverse and indieweb are trying to do in terms of tech and healing that part of our society.
