#NationalWeatherService is now hiring back hundreds of positions that got cut in the #DOGE chaos
#NWS has received permission to hire 450 #meteorologists, #hydrologists and radar technicians just months after being hit hard by DOGE related cuts and early retirement incentives.
The new hiring number includes 126 new positions that were previously approved and will apply to “front-line mission critical” personnel, a #NOAA official told CNN.

#Researchers wanted to ascertain how #RisingTemperatures & thawing #permafrost are affecting the movement of the #Arctic ’s large rivers. A #NewStudy #published in #Nature #ClimateChange found that such #rivers channel #migration is actually decreasing. Rivers across #Alaska & #Canada ’s #Yukon & #NorthwestTerritories migrated 20% less between 1972 and 2020, a period when the region’s temperatures spiked.
