Some 60 people gathered to map buildings in Ituri, DRC. They advanced an urgent Ebola 2026 project on the HOT Tasking Manager last week at a mapathon with Médecins Sans Frontières Belgium.
The @openstreetmap data is used for security mapping, to optimize the delivery of supplies, and for orientation of field teams in this response.

James is one of our new validation candidates and is our top validator for the Ceel Gadde roads project validating 52 tasks or almost 30% of the project. He is also one of our top mappers for the previous month, adding 35 km of roads.

For the first time, the Humanitarian Data Exchange is releasing disaster-specific OSM datasets in collaboration with HOT. During recent disasters in Madagascar and Mozambique, the data was downloaded 440+ times, including from within affected countries.

Open data and open source doing real good in the world. This is exactly why it matters.

HDX Now Supporting HOT with Disaster Specific OSM Datasets

For the first time, Humanitarian Data Exchange (HDX), a widely used platform for sharing humanitarian data, is releasing disaster-specific OSM datasets. This has allowed OSM data to be downloaded over 440 times in response to recent disasters in Madagascar and Mozambique including within the disaster affected countries themselves.
