الْـهُـروبِـيَّـة (Escapism);

Typically, the term "escapism" had been viewed under a negative light, despite its various fields of practice for individuals; Some choose substance abuse and the like to escape reality, while some use creativity and arts - whatever it is, that doesn't seem to budge the negative view of such a term.
Anyway, far off from the world of psychology or whatever science that deals with such a phenomenon (or disorder, if you will?), let's ask the other way around: How sound or wise it is, to face our realities? Doesn't the mind need a break from all of this so-called reality (big part of which is filled with non-sense)? This is not a call to legitimize or think "positively" about substance abuse; No. What I'm saying here, probably the solution to this lies in preventive measures and re-direction of attitude. Honestly, though, even what might be called "positive" or "creative" escape, would still be harmful when done in an excessive manner; so much that a person can be addicted to it, in the face of a harsh reality that can't be changed (not with their own humble capabilities).

One hole in the boat, probably can be mended with a finger until you reach the nearest dock, maybe? But when the holes keep appearing, how much one would be willing to mend the boat, or how many fingers can be used in such situations? Similarly, when life hammers one with games of luck, how often one is willing to gamble in the game of success and failure? It might be argued, that escape it all, is the safest route to sanity (or insanity if you will)… Let's now leave that boat there afloat still and not shake it until it's time to wake up - till then, whenever you see someone living in another world than your own reality, check out the gambles that they've lost against life already… I'm sure you'll understand.

Back to high-speed (I miss working in that niche indeed!). Something from the "pre-COVID" era. I made such a mess with this!
What's fascinating about high-speed, specially if you work without any aiding tools (like Gates or triggers), is that the experimentation becomes surreal somewhat, and the more you work with it, the more your eyes and hands get synchronized, and the more amazing moments you'd discover the more shots you make; and it gets wild with water specifically.
I've stopped posting shot info but for those interested or whatever:

- 1/8000 sec.

[9715] - 2019

Part of a series I've made back in 2019, called it "Fire and Water". It was fun (and messy). Despite using the maximum shutter speed here (1/8000 sec), apparently this wasn't enough to freeze the motion of the water droplets - they were ejected from a syringe. It is such situations that call for working with "flash duration" instead of the typical HSS (or high-speed) mode in the speedlites. Unfortunately, back then my knowledge was limited, and till this very day, I don't think I can work with such method.

[9556] - 2019;

One of the results of having fun with die and water back in 2019. All of this was done without triggers (i.e. special devices to trigger the camera or the flash); I tried those and failed miserably every time I try my luck with them, and I'm always back to manual mode: eye-hand synchronization. Things would be even harder if two people would be working on such experiments because syncing is harder (well, sorta).
By the way, each of these images have a title but I didn't save the title in the file name unfortunately, but only when I uploaded them to other platforms back in 2019 when I made them and honestly I'm too lazy to change file names or check back to see what name I gave each! 🤷🏻‍♂️ So, I'm just putting the serial number of the file name.
