Back in the late 90s, when TI already ruled calculators in High Schools, I selected HP48 as my platform. It is a high-end engineering calculator with CAS capabilities, native units, stack based interface and programmable in RPL.

Recently I purchased a near mint HP48G and again have a physical calculator on my desk.

HP48 Again

Back in the late 90s, when TI already ruled calculators in High Schools, I selected HP48 as my platform. It is a high-end engineering calculator with CAS capabilities, native units, stack based interface and programmable in RPL1. Recently I purchased a near mint HP48G and again have a physical calculator on my desk.

Now that's a lovely blast from the past!

Guide and tips for running #x48ng, a #Hp48 emulator on any Linux device. Here it is running on an #ClockworkPi #uConsole

Gotta say, I do miss the free #HP48[GS]X? emulators on #iOS.

Those were fun to play with.

This #HP48 is always within reach on my desk and I use it very often.

PS: RPN is the best!!!

#Retro #Programing: #Hp48 SysRPL

Diving into the past with this nostalgic #HP48Gx, a powerful calculator from the 90s, now running here on an x48ng emulator in this #uConsole for show how to we used in these years the Jazz 6.8 library and TED editor to navigate, edit, and even decompile system calls and third-party code written in assembler or SysRPL, and do all that in the middle of your coding session.

Thanks to that, we had a lot of "open source" apps in this era.

I hope the hive mind can help me here...

I remember playing a #game, many years ago (so probably a #RetroGame by now) where you have to solve #puzzles of increasing complexity where you need to push "something" (in my mind, these were garbage bins??) onto targets. I think I played this on an #HP48 or #HP28 #calculator, or on an X-Windows system (possibly both).

Does this ring any bells? #BoostsWelcome!

Edit: it's Sokoban! It suddenly popped out of my subconscious mind!

I don't know why I haven't searched for this before, as I'm a huge #hp48 nerd, but here is x48ng, an #opensource HP48GX emulator project.

@adh @IvyMike really what we need for the phone apps is a little bluetooth or usb-c adapter to fit in guts of an original HP48 as a keyboard controller so we can use its lovely keyboard to control the emulator on our modern device. #HP48 #Emulator #ProjectIdea
@textfiles nice to see. I've been running a #hp48 app on my #android phone for ages. good to have a fall back if i misplaced my phone 😅
